The thrill of seeing for the first time, the ambiguity of it, the realization of the endless possibilities within the act of taking it all in, however sideways. That is, up until the time comes for us to break eye contact, realizing the horror vacui fails to appear once we are open to seeing beyond what we know, what we believe, or what is in front of us. ‘The reciprocal nature of vision,’ as the late great John Berger said, ‘is more fundamental than that of spoken dialogue.’ And then you start again.
