This issue is not about our history of bloody crimes; rather, it focuses on the personal codes and expressions associated with environmental issues and guilt, in this era defined by humanity’s actions – the Anthropocene.

To distill the notion of guilt into 168 pages was much more difficult than it first seemed. Invariably, we came across more than what we were looking for. The fires and destruction in the Amazon and many other parts of the world, childhoods spent on pink seesaws which straddle the border fence separating the US from Mexico, and school-age children, led by 16-year-old activist Greta Thunberg, protesting about climate change were all eye-opening issues that found a place in our consciousness throughout 2019.
