PHOTOGRAPHY BY DANIEL SHIPP
Daniel Shipp photographs the real flowers he picks against a fictional but familiar backdrop that portrays an eerie cityscape. Rather than using digital editing after shooting, he manipulates the photographs with an analogue device, fixed on the camera, that allows him to play with the images. In all his studio-based images, the artist prefers to experience a process that is unique to photography, instead of making final touches with Photoshop compositing. Daniel’s technique bares traces of three-dimensional View-master slides and Disney animation technology of the 1950s.
