Neş'e Erdok's paintings are figurative; sometimes self-portraits, sometimes those of loved ones, and most often everyday scenes of the working or middle class. But, they are not the everyday of Rockwellian optimism. Instead, Erdok paints moods or expressions rather than token moments or idealised scenes. She doesn't proselytise for the people she depicts. Her works are about the colours, the movements, the clothes, and the compositions that create an image of what a quotidian instance feels like.
